Treating gifted individuals can be both rewarding and challenging. As clients, they often present a thorough understanding of the therapy plan and offer worthwhile perspectives. However, this population's tendency toward perfectionism can make it difficult to get them out of their comfort zones, a necessary part of stuttering therapy. Procedures such as modeling, setting attainable goals, and accelerating the instruction can help them experience success and transfer skills to environments outside the clinic room.
